YoY & MoM Comparison
YoY & MoM comparison helps you answer "how does it compare with before": are expenses growing or shrinking? Is the change a trend or a fluke?
Two basic concepts
| Concept | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| MoM (month-over-month) | Compared with the previous period | June vs May |
| YoY (year-over-year) | Compared with the same period last year | This June vs last June |
MoM shows short-term changes, while YoY removes seasonal factors to show the long-term trend — months around the Spring Festival naturally have higher expenses, so YoY is more telling.

Three comparison views
Monthly comparison
Income, expenses, and balance for the last 12 months compared month by month, to observe short-term fluctuations and rhythm.
MoM trend
A trend line of consecutive monthly changes, directly showing "whether each month was higher or lower than the one before".
Year-to-date comparison
Your cumulative expenses so far this year compared with the cumulative expenses at the same time last year — if the curve is above last year's, overall spending is speeding up; if below, it is tightening.
